Commercial Self Storage Facility Within a Wider COMAH Setting

Architecture 1B were approached by Hanson Logistics Ltd to design a new commercial 4 storey public self-storage facility that includes improved head office provision. The site had an number of constraints, being used as COMAH warehousing and distribution company that deal primarily with toxic chemicals for among others the large chemical plant located next to their main Huddersfield head office site.

The proposal would be located just outside their controlled compound, demolishing the existing poor quality 1950ʼs ad-hoc complex of older light industrial buildings to facilitate the publicly accessible self-store, and create a more accessible office facility away from the high security storage of the wider site.
